| The first record of the name Wheeler is found in Worcestershire and dates back to before the Norman Conquest in 1066. Opressed under Norman rule, some members of the family moved to Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Scottland. In 1603, members of the Wheeler family settled in Ireland in the counties Dublin and Kilkenny.
